Using iMS to combat the shortage of skilled workers and reduce robot downtime.

Against the shortage of skilled workers:

Independent of robot specialists, a Kuka robot independently calibrates storage positions in machining centers (MAZ) and a variety of storage locations in shelving systems at the push of a button.

Robot downtime reduced by 98%

Downtime without iMS:

> 72 hours

Downtime with iMS:

< 1 hour

Problem:

Due to an unforeseen problem, a robot downtime can last up to a week. After a collision or crash, re-setting the robot is very time-consuming. Furthermore, a robot technician is not always immediately available. Manually teaching the robot positions is often too imprecise. Furthermore, access to some areas is particularly difficult.

The solution:

With iMS’s robot calibration methods and its self-teaching functions, robot failures can be analyzed and restored in just a few minutes. The recalibration process can be performed without the expert knowledge of a robot technician. By leveraging the robot’s accuracy, process quality can be demonstrably and reproducibly restored.

Customer feedback:

With iMS, we save a lot of time during teaching. The availability of a robotics specialist is often very limited. iMS makes us independent of this. We also benefit from the use of high robot precision during teaching. The investment has already paid for itself after the first application.
